Happy Valentine’s Day, traders…

If you told me years ago I’d compare my journey in the options market to a love affair, I’d have thought you were joking. 

But here I am, thousands of trades later, absolutely smitten with options trading. (Don’t tell my wife!)

I get butterflies in my stomach thinking about my early days as a fresh-faced newbie trader — the same feeling I get when I remember the first time I met the love of my life. 

Your trading journey isn’t just about charts and numbers — it’s like a romance filled with emotion, risk, and the thrill of the chase. 

Think of me as a friend who’s been through the pros and cons of trading and came out loving it. 

The market and I are like an old married couple at this point…

And since it’s Valentine’s Day, I thought it’d be cool to share why I think options trading is something you could fall in love with, just like I did…

How It Started: Love at First Sight

Picture this: You walk into a room full of people and one person just catches your eye like a magnet.

Well, many years ago, I walked into a church group and that very thing happened…

When I first laid eyes on my wife, I thought to myself: “Where have you been all of my life?”

It was love at first sight — just like options trading was for me in the world of finance. 

And it all started with one trade…

I put a trade on where the contracts went from out of the money (OTM) to in the money (ITM)…

The underlying stock moved 3% … while my call options skyrocketed an astounding 400%+.

I couldn’t believe the gains in front of my eyes. I was shocked at what I had been missing out on.

Just like seeing my wife for the first time, I thought: “Where have you been all of my life, options?”

The rest is history…

Finally, I had discovered a way to make potentially life-changing gains without risking more than I was willing to.

I could protect (and grow) my capital in ways that would’ve been impossible by just buying and selling stocks.

Saying that I was excited would be the understatement of the century. 

Discovering options was like meeting a love interest who’s attractive, fun, and brilliant — a perfect combo.

Getting to Know Each Other: The Learning Curve

Just like starting any new relationship, there was a lot for me to learn about options trading. 

I spent countless hours learning the basics — how to read an options chain, how options prices react to the underlying stock, etc. 

It wasn’t always easy. At certain moments, I wondered what I’d gotten myself into…

But every relationship has its ups and downs. (Just ask my wife when I leave the toilet seat up!)

Trading is no different…

I’ve had days where everything went just right in the options market, and I felt on top of the world. 

Then there were days when nothing went as planned, and I had to remind myself why I started this journey in the first place. 

But those highs and lows were crucial — they taught me what I needed to do next…

Getting Serious: Developing a Strategy

After a while, I started getting the hang of things. I began to grasp the nuances of puts, calls, strikes, expiration dates, and implied volatility.

The options market was beginning to make sense to me, and then something became abundantly clear…

I needed to develop a consistent, repeatable trading strategy.

And that’s when I started thinking about what the ‘smart money’ was doing. 

By building my SPYDER Scanner, I was able to get a window into the secret moves of Wall Street’s biggest whales. 

This access to information changed my life forever. 

Suddenly, I could see the forest through the trees — not just what contracts the Smart Money was trading — but also when these power players were entering and exiting.

It’s kind of like knowing when to hold hands and when to give some space in a relationship. 

Smart Money sweeps became my new love interest, helping me — and hopefully, you — identify the perfect moments to trade. 

How It’s Going: Still Going Steady

One of the best things about options trading is that there’s always something new to learn. 

The market changes all the time, and it keeps things interesting. 

Like growing into a marriage — you just keep discovering more things you love about them.

Looking back, I’ve had an amazing journey with options trading. 

It’s not just about making money (though that’s a nice bonus). It’s about the discovery of strategies, learning new things, and staying mentally stimulated through different market conditions. 

My journey in the options market has taught me a lot, not just about trading, but about life (and love) as well.

So, if you’re curious about diving into options trading, think of it like starting a new relationship…

Be open-minded, willing to learn, and unafraid of a few bumps along the way. 

Who knows … you might just fall in love, just like I did.
